2007.Sep - EC&M awarded Package C on FMG Port Facilities in Northwest.

Following on from EC&M's success of the award of Packages A and B for FMG's port facilities at Port Hedland, Package C for the stockyard transfer conveyors has been awarded to EC&M.

This package together with Packages A and B are worth an estimated $30 million and are due for completion in early 2008.

EC&M's commitment to the mining and infrastructure sector has strengthened within the market place to enable projects of this size to be undertaken successfully.

2007.Sep - Back to Africa.

After recent successful overseas projects in PNG and the Pacific Islands, EC&M will mobilise back into the African regions for the E&I installation works on Equigold's Bonikro Gold Project in Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast.)

In conjunction with BEC Engineering the project once again throws up logistical challenges and further diversifies EC&M's share in the international market of industrial electrical contracting. A large local workforce will be engaged including trades interpreters and engineers under the directions of EC&M's experienced project team.

The project is scheduled for completion in April 2008.

2007.Aug - EC&M Receives Environmental Award.

On Friday 31st of August 2007, EC&M received the NECA Award for Excellence in the category of Environmental and Energy Efficiency for the West Kimberley Power Project. (see WKPP editorial here.)

On receiving the trophy, EC&M's General Manager Simon Higgins paid tribute to the enormous team effort by the 200+ people involved in one of the most logistically challenging projects in recent times in W.A.

Now it is off to the national awards in Melbourne on November the 15th for EC&M.

2007.Jul - Indian Ocean Golf Classic in Cocos Island.

EC&M is still active in the Indian Ocean territories of Cocos and Christmas Islands, and support local business groups and sporting clubs. At Cocos EC&M together with the Cocos Golf Club helped sponsor the first Indian Ocean Golf Classic, with an Australia vs. Cocos Island game.

The event was a huge success with a great showing of players coming all the way over from Australia. The conditions were tough and the course proved to be a real challenge, with local knowledge proving essential.

The Islanders were able to secure a resounding victory over the Aussie team who were struggling with high tide, land crabs and windy conditions. Next year's event is scheduled to be even bigger and better.

2007.Jul - Another year LTI free for EC&M.

06/07 sees the third year in a row that EC&M has remained Lost Time Injury free. Congratulations to all employees as this is the result of everyone focusing on our motto "If it's not safe, it's not for us."

2007.Jun - EC&M awarded E&I package for Bluewaters Power Station.

EC&M continue their experience in power generation with the award of the E&I works associated with the two new 210 Megawatt steam turbine generators at Bluewaters Power Station, south of Collie. The project is for Griffin Coal.

EC&M expect to start within the next two months with work continuing over the next two years.

With a contract in excess of $15 million, this project will strengthen EC&M's reputation for expertise in Power Generation projects.

2007.May - EC&M awarded major FMG Port Projects.

EC&M have been awarded the Electrical and Instrumentation construction packages A and B for the new Point Anderson 45Mtpa Iron Ore Port Facility in Port Hedland.

The state of the art facility is part of the Fortescue Metals $2+ billion development of Mine Port and Rail from the Cloud Break deposit near Newman.

The project represents one of the largest orders in our companies 20 year history and firms EC&M's now very significant market share in the heavy industrial contracting industry.

2007.Apr - A major milestone reached for the Maitland LNG plant!

April marks the major milestone of the supply of gas to the Maitland LNG plant in Karratha. With the natural gas now available, testing and commissioning can now begin on the three 2+ Megawatt generators powering the plant.

The contract for the E&I on the plant is in excess of $6 million, and will ensure the steady supply of LNG to Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek.

2007.Feb-Mar - EC&M receives multiple packages for major northwest projects.

EC&M has received multiple packages for facilities in the northwest of W.A. including Jimblebar, Cloudbreak, Orebody 25, and Area C.

With the various projects undertaken by BHP and FMG, EC&M have been contracted by Wylie & Skene and Kirfields for the various tasks which include design, construction and E&I installations on these projects.

2007.Jan - Design and construct project completed for CBH Grain Terminal in Albany.

This month sees the successful completion of the CBH Albany Grain Terminal Upgrade. A project which spanned over two years, this was one of the most significant achievements in the company's 20 year history. The design and construct project took a total of 90,000 man hours to complete.
